Here is a list of questions our clients often ask us, and their answers. If you have a question
not mentioned here, please don't hesitate to contact us.
What is the difference between a trademark and
a service mark?
A trademark is a word or symbol that distinguishes one party's goods
or services from another. It can be a word, symbol or design, whereas a
service mark identifies the source of a service rather than a product.
Service marks appear in service advertisements.

How do you ensure that the names you propose
have not been utilized by another company?
We do preliminary trademark and domain name searches for the names selected for assignment to a product,
company or service.

We can have an in-house contest to come up
with some creative names. Why should we use a naming service?
Creating a name is not as simple as it sounds. Sometimes it's better
to hire professionals who are experts in a particular industry.
Namix provides the perspective of an outsider, free of the biases common
amongst people who work together.
Assigning name derivation to a group within an organization can result
in ego conflicts; there is a natural inclination to fall in love with one's
own 'baby' to the point where rational considerations fall by the wayside.
Namix avoids this internecine warfare by sifting all possibilities,
including those submitted by the client, before selecting the most likely
candidates. Since there are no disappointments, there are no hurt feelings
and everyone comes away a winner.
